Portfolio Entry #6 : Systemic Functional Linguistics

Systemic functional linguistics (SFL) is an approach to linguistics that considers language as a social semiotic system. It was devised by Michael Halliday.Here, there are two interesting videos about this theory. I hope you find them useful.

    This entry includes relevant concepts about the theory about SFL but I find it difficult to get the written answers and there are some questions without mark.I Think the answer about the principles is wrong but you have made a good job.

    I found this entry full of complete and useful information but I couldn't see my mark. Anyway, I think that you could integrate key concepts in this form. At the same time, Gforms are useful due to the fact of having pricise information rather than long texts which can be difficult to fully understand. Good job!!

Portfolio Entry #4 : Speech Acts

This video is about "Speech Acts" developed by a British Linguist called J.L. Austin. He divides the Speech Acts into two different groups: Constatives and Performatives. As to Constatives,they refer to words or sentences that describe something true or false. In contrast, there are Performatives which include words or sentences that denote an action.
